Call of Duty 2022: Modern Warfare 2 is around the corner, and allegedly will feature a Rainbow Six siege-inspired game mode fit.

Although Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty: Vanguard has just been released last August, fans are already looking forward to another Infinity Award release. As leaks revealed, Modern Warfare 2 will enable players to have access to unique roles, gadgets, and even possess the ability to “fortify” an area.

Modern Warfare 2 is the continuation of the game’s previous title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare that was released in 2019. A leak from Tom Henderson, writer for Video Games Chronicle and IGN in September 2021, revealed the title is likely to be “Project Cortez”.

To date, there is no specific release date yet. Looking back at the precious CoD releases, the game might be out between October and November.

What will players get?

The single-player story of the game is set to be “a grittier take on Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign”. Players will encounter more close-quarters combat, tricky decision-making, but also never leave out the classic Call of Duty set-piece moments.

Based on the report from people with knowledge of Activision’s plans, the upcoming game will include a campaign involving US special forces, Task 141, fighting a covert war against Columbian drug cartels. They will provide playable characters in the single-player mode while acting as operators in the multiplayer mode. They will don tiger-striped uniforms and Boonie hats.

Recently, further details of the game have been leaked by prominent CoD leaker ‘RalphsValve’, who claimed another unique mode is in the works for the game.

The new alleged mode is rumored to take inspiration from Rainbow Six Siege, where players take turns filling roles, attacking, and defending objectives.

Named as ‘Attackers v. Defenders’, the mode will split the players into two teams: attackers, who must complete a certain objective within the time limit, and defenders, who must slow down or completely stop the attackers. Defenders will also have extra features of laying traps, keeping themselves hidden, and using cameras to scout attackers.

Players can also expect an expanded health system, with three conditions that will be in effect depending on how much damage you absorb: mild, severely injured, and mortally wounded. When a defender is out of a round, they will disappear. on the other hand, attackers will be equipped with ‘Tourniquets’ to help their wounded teammates.

Apart from the players, the game is said to feature a revamped AI system, with enemies holding wounds, screaming and cursing, and reacting more realistically to gunfire. This way, the game will become more immersive to the players.

Weapon jamming, character shaking, and other additional animations are added as well.

Warzone new map release

According to insider sources, Modern Warfare 2 will also release alongside a new map for Warzone, the free-to-play sensation which was launched back in 2020.

The new MW2 Warzone map will comprise various classic points of interest, alongside Verdansk, which is based on Modern Warfare 2019, and Caldera, which was released shortly after CoD: Vanguard.
