COD: Modern Warfare II best-selling game of October

Infinity Ward’s latest installment in the Call of Duty series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, is the best-selling game of October in the U.S. The game beat Gotham Knights, FIFA 23, Madden NFL 23 and NHL 23.

NPD Group executive director Mat Piscatella recently released a list of the top 20 best-seller games of October. The top ten games on the list are Elden Ring, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, Madden NFL 23, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Horizon Forbidden West, MLB: The Show 23, Fifa 23, Call of Duty: Vanguard and Gran Turismo 7.

Eight of the 20 games were released in October, including Modern Warfare II. CoD: MW II is also the second best-selling game of the year, trailing only behind Elden Ring — a game released in February.

Activision introduces new Battle Pass system

Activision Blizzard recently rolled out a new Battle Pass system for CoD: MW II. The move came after backlash over its loot box system.

Activision revealed that it would ditch the usual linear system and opt for a new one that features “Combat Sectors.” Players can choose which “Combat Sectors” they wish to unlock, allowing players to prioritize the items they want.

“The base Battle Pass includes 20 free items. Upgrade to receive access to all 100+ items, or get the Battle Pass Bundle to get an instant 20 Battle Token Tier Skips — 25 if you’re on PlayStation® 4 or 5 — to get a head start on unlocking those rewards,” Call of Duty said. “Those who have the Vault Edition of Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® II can also use their free Battle Pass and Battle Token Tier Skips as well.”

Players who complete every level will obtain bonuses like 300 CoD Points, weapon blueprints and skins. Players’ progress in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be transferred to Warzone 2 and vice versa.

New Battle Pass features new Operator

Players can obtain the season’s first new Operator, Zeus, by purchasing or upgrading to the full version of the Battle Pass. Zeus was born in the southern Niger Delta. His real name is Zosar Kalu, and he is the eldest of three siblings. He helped his parents raise his younger siblings while they focused on their political careers.

He gained the nickname Zeus from his youngest brother, who mispronounced his name due to dysarthria. Al Qatala murdered his family and left Zeus orphaned. Zeus, who had enlisted in the military, founded the Thunder Corps to hunt AQ and bring them to justice.

“Zeus’s default Skin features his custom helmet and (nonfunctioning) battle armor, which saw many a battle against terrorist forces,” Call of Duty wrote.

Players who are not interested in working their way through the Battle Pass but still want to obtain new Operator Skins and other items can purchase the Desert Rogue Pro Pack. The bundle costs $19.99 and contains “The Rogue” Operator Skin for Reyes, two weapon blueprints and 2,400 CoD Points.

Activision plans to release three FC stars Skins in Modern Warfare II. Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior will be the first to arrive on November 21. Paul Labile Pogba will debut on November 25, while Lionel Andrés Messi will join the game on November 29. Players can get them by purchasing Operator Bundles. Each bundle includes a Charm, Vehicle Skin, Sticker, Emblem and a Finishing Move for each Operator.
