Counter Strike Global Offensive ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals Teams Announced
The first three teams representing Oceania, Asia and South America have secured a place at the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals some time ago. They were simply waiting for their counterparts from Europe and North America to join them, after wrapping up their Season 8 matches. Now we know their names and we’ll see them in action starting on December 4th in the most important CS:GO event of the year.
ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals Format and Prizes
The group stage is set to start on December 4th and conclude two days later on December 6th, with the matches being played in a two double-elimination format. There will be two groups and each will consist of 8 teams who will be seeded based on their Online League Placements. Only the first matches will be played in a Bo1 format and the rest will be decided in a best-of-three series. Three teams will advance to the playoffs from each group and will play decisive matches between December 7th – 9th, 2018.
The Counter Strike Global Offensive ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals uses a special format and propels group stage winners straight to the semifinals. Meanwhile, the runners-up will play in the quarterfinals as high seeds, while the teams in third will be the low seeds. These matches will use the same best-of-three format and only the Grand Final will be played in a best-of-five series. $1 million will be split among the participating teams and the exact prizes for each place are yet to be decided.

Six North American Teams and Seven European Squads Have Qualified
On November 14th, the NA ESL Pro League Season 8 has concluded and the six qualified teams were decided. Five names were already known, as these top teams had already amassed more than enough points to book a place to the finals. MIBR finished first, nine points clear of Ghost Gaming who were followed at a respectable distance by Team Liquid, NRG Esports and Renegades. eUnited had defeated INTZ eSports in the previous round and were hoping that their rivals would lose the final match. As both teams won in the last round, INTZ eSports have advanced to the ESL Pro League Season 8 Finals.
The race was just as intense in the ESL Pro League Season 8 Europe for most of the regular season, but there were no decisive matches in the last round. The only thing left to be decided in the final round was the hierarchy, as the three bottom teams were separated by 1 point. Mousesports and G2 Esports were tied for the last place, with HellRaisers one point above them and North in the 4th place. Astralis were head-and-shoulders above their competitors with 62 points and a spectacular 20-6 record. The other two qualified teams are runners-up Natus Vincere and BIG who finished in the third place.
