U.S. esports and entertainment organization FaZe Clan has reportedly penned a partnership agreement with a sports betting operator DraftKings.

The deal could potentially help both companies widen their markets and reach new audiences. Furthermore, this move is considered a huge stepping stone for the FaZe Clan since they are paving their way to go public via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC), which would value the organization at $1 billion.

DraftKings will become the official sports betting, daily fantasy, internet gambling, and free-to-play partner of FaZe Clan, which has made a name for itself as a gaming, lifestyle, and media company.

This is seen as the next viable business strategy for FaZe as both an esports and entertainment organization. Although there has been a backlash among content creators about creating betting-related content recently, the organization has ensured that it will use its platform responsibly.

FaZe Clan has produced many world’s biggest content creators, including FaZe Adapt, FaZe Temperrr, FaZe Nate Hill, FaZe Swagg, Nuke Squad, and more.

What does DraftKings say?

Matt Kalish, the president of Draft Kings North America, said this partnership would benefit both parties in the long run.

“FaZe Clan is a juggernaut of internet engagement and culture, built from the ground up into one of the most influential esports and content organizations in the world,” said Kalish.

“The strong crossover between DraftKings customers and FaZe’s tens of millions of viewers and followers made this a natural alliance, and we hope to create excitement, competition, and community around sports and video games for adult audiences everywhere we operate.”

In esports, DraftKings will be the official sponsor of FaZe Clan’s Counter-Strike esports team. This is done in addition to daily esports fantasy contests that the company holds, covering Call of Duty, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends, Rocket League and Valorant.

What FaZe Clan thinks on the partnership

“We are committed to delivering content we know our fans are passionate about,” said FaZe Clan CEO Lee Trink. “The DraftKings deal is a natural move for FaZe Clan as our members and fans are avid followers of traditional sports, and this gives us the opportunity to further propel our talent and brand into the mainstream.”

“Both brands also share an important vision of being at the forefront of internet culture and we believe this partnership marks an important cultural crossover moment for the future of sports and entertainment.”

DraftKings realizes that gambling could be a controversial and sensitive issue for many. Therefore, it has committed to providing a safe and responsible gaming (RG) platform. Additionally, FaZe Clan will work alongside DraftKings to create educational content that raises awareness for responsible gaming.

On another gaming-related front, DraftKings also launched its NFT marketplace for various collectible drops and used a secure digital ledger of blockchain as a tool of safe transaction for every buyer in August.

As a part of the celebration, DraftKings hosted FaZe Clan members in a suite at SoFi Stadium, LA, for the NFL game between the Los Angeles Rams versus Arizona Cardinals on October 3.
