Eternal Fire advanced to the 2022 PGL Antwerp CS:GO Major with their victory over OG in round 5 of Europe Regional Major Ranking (RMR) A.

The Turkish team managed to win three matches and qualify for the major in the first European RMR tournament in Belgium. With Eternal Fire’s victory, NAVI would have to face forZe to determine fourth place in the PGL Major Antwerp 2022: European RMR A. The FaZe Clan also advanced to the Legends stage.

There was no clear favorite in the match that took place on April 20. OG was expecting to qualify for the upcoming Major in May, which would be the team’s first in CS:GO. In contrast, no Turkish teams have participated in a Major tournament since Space Soldiers at FACEIT Major: London 2018. Eternal Fire sought to change that, and this is exactly what they did after winning 2-0.

The match started with Eternal Fire picking Vertigo for their first map. Early into the game, OG set a 7-0 lead, allowing them to claim victory. However, they let their opponents catch up. They eventually failed several rounds, leading to a 12-7 score. The Turkish team’s excellent defense resulted in them winning the map 16-14.

The next map, Dust2, started quite differently from Vertigo. OG managed to mount a comeback after Eternal Fire won the first five rounds there. That being said, the first half ended with an 8-7 result in favor of the Turkish team.

İsmailсan “XANTARES” Dörtkardeş led his squad to a 15-11 lead after a few rounds. OG’s Valdemar “v4lde” Vangså and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač failed to stop one of the many offensives launched by Eternal Fire on B site in the last round, resulting in another 16-14 win for the Turkish team. The victory means Eternal Fire is the sixth team in Europe RMR A to qualify for the major.

The team shared their victory on Twitter: “WE MADE IT! #battleforEF #forEF”.

Meanwhile, FaZe Clan secured a direct spot in the Legends Stage by advancing with a 3-1 record. Consequently, ForZe and Natus Vincere fought for the last spot, with a 2-0 win for NaVi.

Vitality also tied the series against MOUZ in a parallel match. Vitality won 2-1 on Mirage. Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut’s stellar performance helped secure the victory. HLTV reported that The French AWPer topped the scoreboard with a Kill/Death ratio of 78-54. He was Vitality’s best player on all three maps.
