Fortnite releases Laura Kinney’s X-23 pack
In its latest collaboration with Marvel, the popular battle royale game Fortnite has officially released a new starter pack based on the X-Men character Laura Kinney, better known as X-23, a female clone of Wolverine.
X-23, which appears as one of the covers for FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR, was created in 2003 for the X-Men: Evolution TV series. She rose to prominence in the eyes of fans after becoming the lead character as Wolverine’s adopted daughter in the 2017 film Logan.
The character set includes four items, along with a new outfit, which costs 1,500 V-Bucks and is sold alongside the Clone Pod Back Bling. The Adamantium Claws Pickaxe and X Insignia Wrap for the character can also be purchased separately or as part of the new X-23 Bundle, which includes the entire set for 1,900 V-Bucks.
Many were surprised to see that X-23’s classic yellow costume had been replaced. The fact that the skin lacked the adamantium claws entirely also shocked some fans.
The X-23 skin was first revealed to the public by Fortnite data miner HYPEX. He leaked a new shop section called “X-23” that had been added to the Item Store, saying, “A shop section called ‘X-23’ just got added to the API!”
Some speculate that other major characters from the cover of FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR, such as Bucky Barnes, Captain Carter, Grey Hulk and others, may become available in the future. Epic Games has already made Spider-Gwen and X-23 available, both of which were featured on the cover.
The X-23 pack is the latest addition to Fortnite’s extensive Marvel skin collection, with over 50 Marvel skins available. As part of its collaboration with Marvel, Fortnite also released a comic book series titled FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR, with the most recent issue being available on September 28.
How to get new Marvel skins and items
Marvel readers who have paid for a subscription to Marvel.com and completed all five issues of FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR on Marvel Unlimited will receive an email with a code granting access to all five publicly available Fortnite cosmetics, as well as a sixth in-game cosmetic item.
This promotion is only available until October 27, and codes are only accessible while supplies last. According to Marvel.com, the following cosmetics will be available as part of the promotion:
– Spider-Man Zero Outfit
– Stark Seven Wrap
– Adamantium Claws Pickaxe
– SNIKT! SNIKT! Spray
– Zero War Loading Screen
– A yet-to-be-announced bonus outfit
If players plan on using the Marvel Unlimited promo code to get the cosmetics, they must read all five issues of the FORTNITE X MARVEL: ZERO WAR comics. Players will not receive cosmetics if they mark the issues as “read.”
The official FAQ reads, “Your unique code for the six in-game cosmetic items will be sent to your email within 48 hours of completion. Codes are available while supplies last”.
The Marvel Unlimited promo code is only valid until October 19 and cannot be redeemed after that date. It’s also worth noting that new subscribers will typically receive a seven-day trial period.
