The Best Teams are in Group A

48 countries played in the 2018 Hearthstone Global Games and 16 made it to the second stage. They were divided into four groups and at the end of those matches, Spain, Bulgaria, China and New Zealand were undefeated. They finished with the best numbers and have qualified for the playoffs which means that they are guaranteed to win at least $12,000. Everyone is hoping for much more and will try to finish in the first two places, to reach the semifinals.

Three of the four teams mentioned above will play in Group A, which looks like the strongest, based on the most recent results. Spain will play against Hong Kong in the opening match and are favourites to prevail against a team that finished second in Group B. In the second match of the day, China and New Zealand will lock horns and something has got to give. One of these two teams will end the winning streak, but there’s a good chance for the series to be decided by a narrow margin.

Bulgaria Set to Dominate Group B

The two teams who will be eliminated in the semifinals will receive $30,000 each, so there’s a lot of motivation to survive the group stage. Bulgaria seems to have the best chance to qualify, after winning both series in the previous round and dropping just three games overall. They won’t have an easy match against Brazil in the first round after the South Americans exceeded expectations in the second group stage. They have played a lot of matches and are likely to give the favourites a run for their money.

One of the most anticipated games is the one between Norway and Singapore, because of the recent turn of events. Under normal circumstances, Taiwan should have played against the Scandinavian nation but they were disqualified. The organizers decided to bar them from playing in the 2018 Hearthstone Global Games Playoffs after being found guilty for stream sniping. This provided Singapore with the chance to prove their worth and the representatives of the Asian nation will try to make the most of this opportunity.

All playoff matches are played offline and at this point of the tournament, they have a single elimination format. There is no second chance for the defeated players, so participants have only one shot to prove their quality.
