Check out the New Card Back

Hearthstone designers have always found the way to catch the eye of existing and prospective players with some cool animations. They have had the advantage of an impressive lore and iconic characters that are easy to recognize even by those who don’t know a great deal about this unique genre. Once again, they have scored big points visually, with the unveiling of a brand-new card back. These can be added to the collection of existing players and they capture the very essence of winter months.

Players are invited to add the “Chillin’ card back” to their collections in January to get the much coveted bragging rights in the Hearthstone community. In order to acquire these card backs that replace the art currently decorating the backside of the existing cards, players must win five matches. Both Standard and Wild Ranked Play modes count, so at least in this regard players enjoy a lot of freedom. Lucky winners will have to wait until the end of the month to receive the card back in the Ranked Play reward chest.

More than Meets the Eye about the Ranked Play Season

The visually pleasing card back is likely to motivate players but it represents just the tip of the iceberg. Those who participate in the new ranked season will find more rewards in the chests awarded at the end of the month. Inside, they can find anything from golden cards and arcane dust to more seasonal card backs and the number of chests depends on their rank. Meanwhile, players are given the impetus to move up the ladder, so they have a real shot at qualifying for the playoffs.

2018 has been a great year for Hearthstone in the eSports arena and the one that has just started shows a lot of promise as well. The best players at the end of the ranked season will enter the 2019 Wild Open and will be able to showcase their skills in the playoffs. Meanwhile, the 2018 Hearthstone Championship Tour will start on January 12 in Europe, one week later in the Americas and will conclude on January 27 in the Asia – Pacific region. The tournament will use the same format as last year and the best four players will advance to the Seasonal Championship.
