Lnguagehackr Wins the 2018 HCT Fall Championship

The 2018 HCT Fall is the last important Hearthstone tournament before the season finals. In addition to being an excellent opportunity for top players to put their skill to the test, it also had a significant guaranteed prize pool. A total of 16 players participated in the event, hoping for a deep run and a bigger chunk of the $250,000 per spin. Mihai “lnguagehackr” Dragalin from Canada was one of them and after three days of intense matches, he emerged victoriously.

Lnguagehackr Struggled During the Group Stage

The Canadian player didn’t simply march to victory and had to fight hard in Group C, where he finished second behind Bloodtrail. His opponent joined Russian RENMEN and two players from the United States as group leaders, with back-to-back victories. Bloodyface and Justsaiyan dominated Groups A and B and they were hoping for easier matches in the quarterfinals. That was obviously not the case, especially for RENMEN who was pit against lnguagehackr in the first round of the playoffs and lost in four matches.

Bloodtrail was the only player to advance to the semi-finals undefeated and at this point, he took on bloodyface. His opponent had just staged an incredible comeback against Caimiao to win the quarterfinals 3-2, after dropping the first two matches. Once again, he found himself in a deep hole, losing the first two games and was able to recover once more, to make it to the finals.

lnguagehackr crushed his opponent in the semifinals, to book a seat in the final act of the competition. Bloodtrail and justsaiyan didn’t play for the third place and instead, both of them got $25,000. bloodyface won the first match in the final, but he was unable to capitalize on it and lost the next three games. The runner-up received $40,000, while the winner got the lion’s share of $50,000 and 30 HCT points.

The 2018 Hearthstone Global Games Playoffs Are Looming

Two weeks from now, the last important Hearthstone tournament of the year will take place at the BlizzCon in the United States. 48 countries were represented in the 2018 Hearthstone Global Games, but only eight have qualified for the playoffs. The first two teams to be eliminated will receive $12,000, while the ones who finish in the fifth and sixth places will collect $20,000. Two teams will share the third step of the podium and each will be compensated with $30,000.

The playoffs are played offline in a single elimination format, with the matches to be broadcasted live on the official Twitch stream channel. The tournament has a guaranteed prize pool of more than $400,000 and 1/8 of it will go to the winning team. $40,000 will be awarded to the runner-up and so far, there are no clear favourites ahead of the grand final. Bulgaria, Brazil, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Norway, Singapore and Spain are the nations still in contention.
