Mande plays sniper in Apex Legends, channels inner DrDisRespect

Former pro player Mikkel “Mande” Hestbek paid tribute to Herschel Beahm IV, a.k.a. DrDisRespect, by arming himself with a sniper rifle and making kills in a similar fashion to the well-known streamer in an Apex Legends match on Sunday.

Mande himself has an extensive history of sniping in the game. During a match, he presented speed and momentum and was able to take down many opponents. Every time he landed a snipe shot, Mande repeated DrDisRespect’s signature catchphrase, albeit out of order.

“Speed, violence, momentum,” Mande said after sniping targets back-to-back successfully.

When the match was approaching its end with a single enemy about to escape his massacre, Mande took the target out with a perfect final snipe shot. After making the kill, he stood up and started dancing.

DrDisRespect, also known as the Doc, is famed for his sniping skills. He has made many sniping highlights in many games, from Call of Duty: Warzone, PUBG and Halo Infinite.

Mande, gdolphn planing independent Apex tournament

In late December 2022, Mande announced that he planned to host an Apex Legends World Cup in 2023 along with fellow pro player Martin “gdolphn” Kristensen.

Mande wants to create a separate event from Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment’s ALGS circuit, thanks to a recent development in the Apex Legends competitive ecosystem. The situation revolved around three teams dropping their rosters and departing from Apex after missing qualification for the Apex Legends Global Series Year 3 in London in December 2022.

“me and @gdolphn will probably host an Apex World Cup in the start of 2023,” Mande tweeted. “TOURNEY WILL PROBABLY BE 3 DAYS LONG WITH A RULESET I HAVENT COME UP WITH YET BUT I WILL WRITE ASAP!” Mande said on Twitter

Mande also said that the World Cup would be an online tournament scheduled for February. He also said they were looking for sponsors to get the event going, aiming to bring a total of more than 50k viewers.

Since Mande and gdolphn are prolific figures within the Apex Legends community, the announcement about this online tournament gathered enough support. Several important figures, such as Phillip “ImperialHal” Dosen from TSM, showed interest in this tournament. YouTuber Jack Lucky also offered to help promote the event.

Mande and gdolphn have not disclosed any further information about the tournament.

The Doc’s Skepticism toward Warzone 2.0 Season 2

In other news, DrDisRespect has been skeptical about the state of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 since its release. On December 14, 2022, he expressed disappointment in Season 1 of the game following the Reloaded update.

“I’m over this f*cking game… I’m probably not going to be playing that game (Warzone 2) ever again,” he said in one of his streams on YouTube before uninstalling the game.

On January 23, the Doc returned to Warzone 2.0 due to the lack of multiplayer shooting games. However, just like before, he still struggled to find enjoyment in it. He made various complaints about the game, one of which was the pacing in the game due to a slow reload animation.

At one point, the Doc called the game “depression” for putting him primarily in a negative mood. While Season 2 for Warzone 2.0 is coming, the streamer said the patch would not do much to fix the game’s many problems.

Although the Doc keeps returning to Warzone 2.0, he said that PUBG, H1Z1: Battle Royale and the original Warzone were much better.
