2019 Global StarCraft II League Code S Groups C and D
The second stage of the Global StarCraft II League Code S groups phase will conclude this week, with the matches from Groups C and D. Protoss players dominate these two groups, but the favourites to advance to the quarterfinals are the Terrans and Zergs.
Innovation and Classic are Favourites in Group C
Innovation has recently won the World Electronic Sports Games and he is justly confident ahead of the Group C matches. In the opening match he plays against sOs, a skilled Protoss player and he is credited with the first chance. We get odds of 7/10 on the Terran to win, while the underdog is priced at 11/10 by Betway. The other match of Group C is an all-Protoss affair, with Classic playing against Trap and this game is even more difficult to call. Classic is favourite with odds of 11/20, while his opponent playing the same race currently gets odds of 13/10 at the same bookmaker.
Dark and Dear Likely to Advance from Group B
Group B is particularly balanced and all four participating players have a decent chance at qualifying to the playoffs. Dark and Dear are slight favourites and these two players have locked horns before in the opening stage of the tournament. Dark has emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins, so if both of them win the opening match, they will once again compete for the first place in the group.
Dark is the only Zerg player competing this week and he is likely to kickstart his campaign with a victory over herO. A victory for him is prices at 7/10 at ArcaneBet, while those who bet on the underdog will be paid at even odds if he caused an upset. herO has had his fair share of good games at the 2019 Global StarCraft II League Code S, but during the first group stage he has finished second.
Dear was unable to defeat Dark in their first series, but there’s a good chance for him to play against his rival once again on Saturday. That’s because he is credited the first chance against Cure and odds of 4/5 at GG.bet, as opposed to 9/10 for the Terran player.
Innovation Wins the World Electronic Sports Games 2018
Innovation was one of the four undefeated players in the group stage and the only Terran, advancing to the playoffs with 10 straight wins. Not surprisingly, he was expected to cruise through the quarterfinals and semi finals, despite the obvious skill of his opponents. Victories over Rail and Lambo were hardly a surprise, but his triumph over Maru in the semi finals was nothing short of impressive. He won the all-Terran match in four games after losing the opening one, to set up an epic confrontation in the finals against Serral. The Zerg player was the favourite after winning the previous edition and dominating the StarCraft II stage in 2018. Innovation got the best of him at the end of a thrilling seven-game series.
