The Asian and NA Overwatch Playoffs End this Weekend
The Overwatch League regular season has ended and the Grand Finals are scheduled to start on October 8. In between, the Asian and NA Overwatch Playoffs will determine the names of the teams that will qualify for the main event. In the Asian tournament the favorites have advanced with relative ease, but the North American event was full of surprises. This weekend, the second round of the Asian and NA Overwatch Playoffs will come to an end and the winners will be announced.
Epic Winners’ Finals in the Overwatch NA Playoffs
The North American playoffs are action-packed and there was no shortage of surprising results in the opening phase. During the second round, the favorites have regained their footing and are just games away from booking a seat through the Grand Finals. After sweeping two teams from Los Angeles in the quarterfinals and semifinals, Philadelphia Fusion will face the San Francisco Shock in the final. Buff.bet gives the Phillies a slight edge and odds of 3/4, but San Francisco are equally tempting at even odds.
Paris Eternal and Florida Mayhem were the other two teams to finish with at least 10 more victories and defeats in the regular season. The former have already been eliminated from the event and Florida are fighting for their lives in the lower bracket. They should be able to advance at the expense of Atlanta Reign, as suggested by the odds of 1/5 at Unikrn. Their opponents are not to be underestimated after defeating Paris Eternal in the winners’ brackets and are definitely worth considering at odds of 3/1.
Shanghai Dragons Dominate the Overwatch Asia Playoffs
The Shanghai Dragons have dominated the regular season with an iron fist and they continue to stand tall in the Asian Overwatch Playoffs. They lost just two matches during the entire season and dropped one in the series against New York Excelsior. On September 12, they will face the Seoul Dynasty in the Winners’ Finals after the South Koreans swept the Guangzhou Charge. GG.bet justly regards Shanghai Dragons as favorites with odds of 1/5, while offering 3/1 on a Seoul Dynasty victory.
In the lower bracket, New York Excelsior and Guangzhou Charge have one more chance to stay alive in the Asian Overwatch Playoffs. They also meet in the first match of Saturday, with the New Yorkers having a slight edge over their rivals. In spite of finishing second in the regular season, we trust them to prevail and like the odds of 1/2 offered by Betway. Guangzhou fans who want to take a leap of faith with their favorites will enjoy odds of 3/2 if the underdogs cause an upset.
