It has been reported that Electronic Arts will delay the limited regional launch of Apex Legends Mobile, citing “current world events” as the reason behind the decision. Despite EA not elaborating what the company means by “current world events”, it is likely they refer to the current situation in Ukraine, as well as Europe in general, due to the Russian invasion of Kyiv, which is backed by Belarus, in addition to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The futuristic first-person battle-royale title was initially expected to launch on February 28. However, it has now been postponed until next week. EA said in a post on their website that the new release date will be March 7.

“Due to current world events, we made the decision to shift the limited regional launch of Apex Legends Mobile,” the video game giant announced on their official blog. “Our intention is to now release the game to participating countries on March 7 Pacific Standard Time.”

Who can play Apex Legends Mobile?

After the release, ten countries will be the first to be able to download and play Apex Legends Mobile on both Android and iOS platforms. These countries are Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Argentina, and Colombia.

“When Limited Regional Launch begins next week, head to the Google Play Store and iOS App Store to sign up so you can jump in, play as your favorite Legend, and share your feedback with the team,” the blog post further reads.

According to the announcement, the Legends that will be made available during the limited launch are as follows: Bloodhound, Gibraltar, Lifeline, Wraith, Bangalore, Octane, Mirage, Pathfinder, and Caustic.

Will Apex Legends Mobile launch in more countries?

Neither EA nor Respawn Entertainment, the developer team behind the game, has announced whether the game will be made available to be downloaded and played in any other country. However, the studio said that it will announce support for other regions after the game’s testing phase in the initial market, which comprises the aforementioned countries.

“We’ll be sharing updates on global launch once we’ve made informed decisions coming out of the limited regional launch,” the announcement continued. “We’re still actively testing the app around the world and we can’t wait for more players to join the fun at launch!”

Does Apex Legends Mobile offer cross-platform functionality?

Apex Legends Mobile is built specifically to be played on Android and iOS platforms devices. Therefore, the game can only be played on smartphones and does not offer cross-platform functionality with PC and consoles.

“The Apex Legends Mobile is currently still in development and being optimized to run on a variety of devices,” EA further elaborated. “Notably, devices not supported during the limited region test are iOS devices with less than 2GB RAM and Android devices with less than 3GB RAM.”

How to pre-register for Apex Legends Mobile for players outside of the ten countries

As has been mentioned above, Apex Legends Mobile will only be made available for select countries upon its soft release on March 7. It has been speculated to be fully released in the third quartal of 2022.

For players outside of the ten countries who wish to play the game during its soft release, the only workaround is by using VPN services and “accessing” the game from the aforementioned countries. The players must also sign up for new supported Google accounts and set their Google Play Store region accordingly. This works only on Android platforms.
