CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 to bring weapons, Raid, maps, more
Activision has announced additional details for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2, which will be released on February 15. The announcement contains information on new weapons, a new Raid episode and four more maps.
The update, initially to go live on February 1, was delayed to give the developer more time to work on the game’s current state. The extra time has resulted in the addition of new content to the game, including two “new” 6v6 maps, one of which was in the beta and one of which is a remastered map, seven new modes, including the popular ones like Infected and the Gun Game, and new weapons.
New weapons
Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 will add five new pieces of weaponry to the game, namely ISO Hemlock Assault Rifle, KV Broadside Shotgun, Dual Kodachis, Crossbow and Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle.
Players will find ISO Hemlock in the Season 2 Battle Pass. The official blog claims this new weapon from Expedite Firearms is a formidable and upgraded rifle intended to take both 5.56 and subsonic ammunition. 300 BLK ammo provides a tactical advantage in every situation.
The KV Broadside, introduced in Season 2, will be the first Shotgun for the Kastov Platform. It will have the fastest rate of fire of any Shotgun that is not fully automatic. Players can get the KV Broadside Shotgun for free with the Season 2 Battle Pass.
The next new weapon is the Dual Kodachis, a Melee weapon returning to Season 2 as a free bonus weapon. It is a powerful and quick weapon that can strike with a longer attack range than the Knife. Each swipe of Dual Kodachis also has a faster motion towards foes, but at the expense of the user’s ability to strafe and run.
The Crossbow is also returning in Season 2. The high-performance Crossbow, both stealthy and agile, fires bolts 20 inches in length and is extremely dangerous.
This weapon has a high degree of personalization, unique features and special ammo. Standard 20.0 bolts are recoverable and go unnoticed by trophy detection systems.
Players can unlock it by completing all seven Path of the Ronin Event challenges or purchasing it via Store Bundle.
The developer revealed very little information about the Tempus Torrent Marksman Rifle, which would be available after the mid-season patch. The new Marksman Rifle will not be available to gamers right away, but it should be available later in the year.
New Raid episode
Season 2 of Modern Warfare 2 will also have a brand-new Raid episode. Season 1 Reloaded debuted with Episode One: Atomgrad — the second season will have three-player episodic Raids containing stealth, action and puzzle-solving tasks to continue the plot.
Activision did not reveal any new plot elements. However, they did announce that Captain John Price, Commander Farah Ahmed Karim and Lieutenant “Gaz” will return for episode 2 later in the season, most likely after the mid-season update.
New maps
Two new standard multiplayer maps and two more large-scale war maps will be available to players at the start of Season 2.
Dome is returning to multiplayer as a standard map. Dome, which first appeared in Modern Warfare 3’s Vanguard, is also featured in Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map.
The game’s second standard map will be Valderas Museum, which was shown in the beta for Modern Warfare 2 but was later removed.
The final two new maps for Ground War and Invasion modes are in Al Mazrah — Zaya Observatory and Al Malik International.
The updated roadmaps also reintroduced four game modes, namely Infected, Gun Game, Grind and Hardcore, which will be available at lanch. The first three modes will be party modes, with Hardcore mode replacing the existing Tier 1 playlist.
Season 2’s Hardcore playlist will feature a hybrid of classic game types and rules, a stripped-down HUD and severely reduced health that only Stim Shots can restore.
The developers will also add All or Nothing, Drop Zone and One In The Chamber later in the season.
