FIFA 23: Release date, prices, features, system requirements

Electronic Arts have released more details about its upcoming title, FIFA 23, set to be released on September 30. FIFA 23 promises to bring innovations and improvements to the series.

EA said in a release that the game would have cross-play support. It will also have women’s leagues, a chemistry feature in Ultimate Team, and a limited-time pre-order offer by September 29 for an untradeable Ones To Watch Player Item, among others.

Details of FIFA 23

According to EA, FIFA 23 will have two editions—Standard and Ultimate. Owners of the Ultimate Edition will be able to play the game three days ahead of its release. Players who pre-order either of the two editions are eligible to claim “1 FUT TOTW player, 5-game Mbappé Loan Item, 3-game FUT Ambassador Loan Player Pick”. Additionally, those who own the Ultimate Edition can claim 4,600 FIFA Points.

Cross-play seems to be the center of FIFA 23. It allows players to play others regardless of the platforms used. EA claims that For PC, Stadia, and current-gen consoles owners (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S), FIFA 23 will be more realistic with the HyperMotion 2 technology.

FIFA 23 will also have new gameplay features, including a new skill-based mechanic in risk versus reward shooting called Power Shots and redesigned free kicks, penalties, and corners. These give players more control over the ball’s trajectory, curl, and more. EA also has improved the game’s on-pitch, contact, and impact physics for more grounded and realistic interactions among pieces on the field.

EA has also introduced innovations to the game’s shooting, defending, and passing mechanics. For example, players can now see shot trajectories, and tackles and passes now have more variations. The in-game AI has also received touch-ups. EA claims that AI teammates and opponents will “better react and respond tactically” based on scoring, match time, and other factors.

To celebrate the 2022 FIFA World Cup this November in Qatar, FIFA 23 will have its own in-game World Cup, coinciding with the real-world event. At launch, FIFA 23 will introduce the Barclays FA Women’s Super League and Division 1 Arkema. The introduction of women’s leagues is the first in the game’s history.
