Hearthstone Esports Expected to Set New Milestones in 2019
The Hearthstone eSports season ended with a bang, as Team China caused a major surprise at BlizzCon, to win the Grand Finals of the Hearthstone Global Games at the expense of Brazil. The tournament was exceptional in terms of both participation and level of competition and a fitting conclusion for the Summer and Fall Championships. More than 200,000 players have participated in the 25 tour stops and throughout 2018 there were plenty of other major events worldwide.
This year, the best players have won a combined amount of $2.8 million and Blizzard Entertainment has high expectations for what 2019 will bring. The company has paid attention to the feedback given by fans and players and made significant changes to the HCT system. Some of these changes were implemented in the final months of the year, but many more are scheduled to follow in the first quarter of 2019.

Bigger Prizes for The Hearthstone Championship Tour
The Hearthstone Championship Tour is the most important tournament dedicated to this popular game and in 2019, it will have a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million. Professional players will have plenty to fight for next year, but they can expect serious competition from new and ambitious challengers. Qualifiers, live global tournaments and a new top tier will keep the fans at the edge of their seats, as they watch the games on streaming platforms. Overall, more than $4 million will be split among players.
Hearthstone Esports qualifiers will run mostly online, with the first scheduled for the first quarter of 2019, yet another reason to anxiously wait for spring.
