IEM Dallas 2022: Teams, Game Schedule, Day 1 recap
Following the conclusion of PGL Major Antwerp, the CS:GO international calendar continues to Dallas, Texas. IEM Dallas 2022, sponsored by Intel, is the first LAN event in North America after the COVID-19 pandemic. The event was started on May 30 for the elimination round until the grand final on June 5 at Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, with a total of 16 teams eyeing the prize of $250,000.
Several teams such as Entropiq, NAVI, and Heroic had to withdraw from the competition due to a combination of visa problems and some countries’ rules regarding COVID-19 guidelines.
Meanwhile, ENCE, MiBR, and NIP will use stand-ins in this event. Erik ‘ztr’ Gustafsson for NIP, Lotan ‘Spinx’ Giladi for ENCE, and Breno ‘brnz4n’ Poletto for MiBR aren’t playing in IEM.
IEM Dallas will split 16 teams into two double-elimination groups. The opening round will use a best-of-one format before the event proceeds to the best-of-three stages.
Each group winner will immediately reach the semi-finals, while the runners-up and the third-placed teams have to compete in the quarterfinals. IEM Dallas will conclude in a best-of-five grand finale on Sunday, June 5.
The first day started without a live audience. Day 1 saw all eight Bo1s of the tournament and IEM Dallas’ first elimination games. Movistar Riders and Encore had to leave the competition early this year following defeat to G2 Esports and FaZe Clan respectively.
