League of Legends officially introduces K’Sante in newest trailer
League of Legends’ latest short trailer, which was released on Thursday, officially introduced the upcoming Shurima-based tank champion K’sante. The video revealed some intriguing details about his background but did not indicate when he would be launched.
The amber-eyed champion was first mentioned in the April 2022 Champion Roadmap as a “high-skill” top-lane tank similar to Ornn, Sion and Shen. He hails from the deserts of Shurima, which is also Azir, Sivir and Renekton’s place of origin.
In an updated preview of the 2023 season released in August, Riot’s lead champion producer Ryan “Reav3” Mireles revealed more details about K’Sante’s design, as well as hints about the character’s weapon of choice and how it will affect his abilities.
“This new champion leads the warriors of Nazumah to hunt those same monsters using the rare resources they gain to build their infrastructure and weapons,” said Reav3.
“The Hunter’s Pride”
In the trailer titled “The Hunter’s Pride,” K’sante is in a room, reading something on his desk with his back to the camera. He has dark skin and wears dreadlocks.
The table’s surface is adorned with information about the beasts hunted by the Nazumah, as well as feathers, a bow design and a claw. The League’s 162nd champion can be seen glancing over his one-of-a-kind blunt weapon on the side of his table.
K’Sante then can be heard saying, “My ancestors built Nazumah, away from the Ascended and other would-be rulers — but monsters come in all shapes and sizes.”
Then, off-screen, a panicked yell instructs someone to stay back. K’Sante slams the table and proclaims, “I, K’sante, stand between them and my people! To the end.”
K’sante’s background story
K’sante originates from Nazumah, a remote city-state in Shurima that is devoid of natural resources save for a nearby oasis. His story begins 500 years after the city was settled.
K’Sante serves as the leader of a group of desert monster hunters and fights every day to protect his people. His one-of-a-kind Ntofos weapon is a massive blunt weapon made of rare regenerative hide, which he obtained after defeating one of the desert’s most fearsome monsters.
The weapon can be shattered at any time, revealing finely crafted blades that can rip through any foe in seconds. The hide then regenerates into its original blunt form, allowing K’sante to bludgeon his enemies to death.
K’sante to receive a Worlds 2022 skin inspired by Lil Nas X
Riot recently announced a collaboration with American rapper and singer Lil Nas X to create the League’s official Worlds 2022 anthem as well as a new prestige K’Sante skin, called “Prestige Empyrean K’sante.”
Prestige Empyrean K’Sante will be available from Thursday, November 3, until Monday, November 14, for 2,000 Worlds 2022 Event tokens. Players can also obtain this exclusive skin by purchasing the Worlds 2022 event pass.
It is highly improbable for K’Sante to be included in the next patch (12.20), as he has only been announced recently. However, he’ll almost certainly be part of the League of Legends PBE (Public Beta Environment) version for patch 12.21.
