LoL European Masters Summer 2018 Enters Knockout Stage This Weekend

The European Masters Summer 2018 is slowly, but surely approaching its conclusion as only 16 League of Legends teams are still in the race. The event started on September 10th and will conclude by the end of the month, whilst having brought together a total of 40 teams.

20 of them come from the National Leagues, 13 advanced from the Group Stage and seven others have qualified for Play-In. This makes the tournament one of the most exciting European competitions for LoL players giving everyone a chance to shine.

The first week of the European Masters Summer 2018 was full of events and each series consisted of a single match. On the bright side, the Single Round Robin format ensured that one stroke of bad luck wasn’t enough to ruin the chances of otherwise promising teams.

Szata Maga+6 have qualified directly after finishing in first place, while Gentside and Ninjas in Pyjamas advanced from the play-in knockout stage. The Group Stage started on Sept. 17th, and now we know the names of the top eight League of Legends teams that have qualified for the Knockout Stage starting tomorrow, on September 22nd.

Favourites advance to the EMS 2018 Playoffs

Ninjas in Pyjamas and Gentside qualified for the group stage one week ago, when they won the elimination match in the play-in knockout stage. Even though the previous round had been dominated by Szata Maga+6, the Polish team was unable to carry on with their performance and secure a place in the playoffs. They lost both games in Group C, which was won by Panathinaikos, tied for the lead with Spanish MAD Lions.

The Knockout Stage starts on Sept. 22nd and both the quarterfinals and semifinals matches will be Bo3. In the opening match, Outplayed takes on EURONICS Gaming and the Group A winners are favoured.

Perhaps the most exciting match in the quarterfinals is the one between Ninjas in Pyjamas and Group D winners GamersOrigin. The latter are yet to drop a match at the European Masters Summer 2018, but start only with the second chance to reach the finals.

Place your League of Legends bets with Pinnacle:

Gentside will try to extend their flawless record in the quarterfinals and outshine MAD Lions for a spot in the semifinal. The series can go either way and this is one of the most likely matches to require three games for a winner to be decided. In the last quarterfinal, Panathinaikos and ASUS ROG ELITE locked horns, after both teams had emerged from the group stage with a 67% win rate.

The exact hours of the quarterfinals and semifinals are yet to be decided. League of Legends fans will have to wait one week to learn the name of the European Masters Summer 2018 winner, as the final takes place on Sept. 30th. The winner will be decided at the end of a best-of-five series and will claim a prize worth €40000, while the runner-up will receive €25,000.
