Mojang reveals official release date for Minecraft Legends

Mojang Studios has announced that Minecraft Legends will be released on April 18 this year.

Minecraft Legends will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC. Xbox Game Pass Subscribers will also be able to get the game for free.

The game will be released in two different editions, Standard Pack and Deluxe Pack. The Standard Pack comes with the base game only, while the Deluxe Pack features more content, including one Hero Skin and four Mount Skins.

Minecraft Legends’ gameplay features

During the recent Xbox & Bethesda Developer Direct, Mojang revealed that Minecraft Legends would feature a PvP multiplayer mode with cross-platform and cross-gen support, allowing Xbox players to play this game with non-Xbox and past-gen players.

In the PVP, each player forms a team of eight to capture and destroy the enemy team’s base in a randomly generated area. Players must communicate with their team members to strengthen their base defense, which depends on how each team member builds the base. They also share the same resources, making strategic thinking and decision-making crucial in this mode.

In the main story, the players instead will engage in battles to defend the Overworld from destructive piglins.

Minecraft Legends will have gameplay similar to free-roaming tower defense and strategy games like Clash of Clans. Players build bases and gather resources to build weapons to defend their territory.

More games revealed during Developer Direct

Other than Minecraft Legends, several other games were also revealed at Developer Direct.

In the showcase, Turn 10 Studios presented its most technically advanced and authentication racing game, Forza Motorsport. The developer explained that the game features 20 racing tracks and more than 500 cars.

Forza Motorsport will be released exclusively on PC and Xbox Series X/S.

Then, there was Hi-Fi Rush, a 3D action-platformer game developed by Tango Gameworks, mostly known for horror titles like The Evil Within series and Ghostwire: Tokyo. In contrast to most of the developer’s previous works, Hi-Fi Rush contains quippy humor and has a vibrant, cel-shaded art style. The game launched yesterday.

The Developer Direct also showcased the latest chapter in the Elder Scrolls, Necrom. Here, the players will visit Telvanni Island along with two new companions. Players will have a chance to practice their Arcane skills. Additionally, they can play all 20 previous chapters and DLCs for free for a limited time, as long as they have access to the base game.

Pre-purchase is now available and comes with a new mount and pet and an additional bonus item at launch.

The final game revealed during the Developer Direct is Redfall from Arkane Studios. Based on the trailers and showcases, it will be a cooperative shooter game featuring different character classes with unique special abilities. In the game, players get to form a team of up to four players to gather intel to reclaim their territories from vampire hordes.

Arkane Studios scheduled Redfall for release on May 2 this year for PC and Xbox Series X/S. Players will also have an opportunity to preorder the game to get the Bite Back Edition, which grants access to Hero Pass.
