PUBG Issues Further Competitive Bans for Cheating

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds or more commonly known simply as PUBG might not be the biggest Battle Royale game that is currently on the market but it definitely makes its presence known both within the industry and within the esports community and once again, it has been proven that the developers of PUBG take their players and their game very seriously and are very intolerant when it comes to cheating in their game.

While cheating is generally frowned upon regardless of the game, especially on the competitive scene, developer PUBG Corp. has decided to bring out the ban hammer and have shown everyone that they are not afraid to use it.

Last December, PUBG Corp. has issued suspensions to four players who have been found guilty of using unauthorized software while competing in public matches during the NPL Online Qualifiers. Upon conducting a thorough investigation, players Christian “Cuhris” Narvaez, Liam “Liammm” Tran, Tyler “DevowR” Sti and Mark “Tefl0n” Formaro and their respective teams have been issued three-year long suspensions from all official esports competitions.

Following this event, twelve more players have been caught with using the same prohibited software and ten of them have been given the same treatment.

Six out of the twelve players have been given a three-year suspension from all official esports competitions due to using the prohibited software in the qualifying matches for the upcoming PUBG Europe League while four of them were given two-year suspensions for using the same software but only in public games. The last two players have also been given three-year lasting suspensions due to knowing and keeping quiet about their teammates using the forbidden software.

While the team ‘Sans domicile fixe’ has been suspended for three years in its entirety, Red Diamonds and Pittsburgh Knights will be able to keep their place in the PEL if they agree to replace their banned players(S1D and TEXQS) respectively.

Players who have also been suspended:

  • Avalon
  • Smitty
  • Papaya
  • Cabecao
  • swalker
  • zuppaa
  • Houlow
  • sezk0
  • THZ
  • Fr_Steph

Upon making these announcements, PUBG Corp has stated that all players who wish to participate in any official competitions will be subject to a “comprehensive background check”. While they have not commented further on what those background checks might consist of, they have assured us that if any players are found using similar software or exploiting the game in any other way, they could receive a suspension which can last from three years to permanent depending on the severity of the offense.
