EVE Online announces collaboration with Doctor Who

EVE Online, the space-faring MMORPG by CCP games, has announced its first massive crossover with Doctor Who, titled “Interstellar Convergence event”.

Starting from January 13 through February 1, Capsuleer and Whovians will join forces in tracking down and battling with the infamous Daleks.

“EVE Online x Doctor Who not only brings two iconic universes together but also the passionate Whovians with the just-as-passionate pilots of New Eden,” said Kevin Jorge, senior producer at BBC Studios who is excited about the collaboration.

To give a sneak peek into the convergence, CCP Games and Doctor Who also shared a 30-seconds-long event trailer on Twitter, captioned “Warp into New Eden on January 13th and challenge the Daleks in the massive multiplayer online video game EVE Online!”

This event marks the first-ever collaboration in the history of the game after the launch almost two decades ago.

“We are always pushing the boundaries of what is possible in EVE Online. Collaborating with BBC Studios gives us the opportunity to pay homage to an iconic series that has inspired us at CCP,” said EVE Online’s Creative Director, Bergur Finnbogason in a press release.

Space Expedition with “EVE of the Daleks”

EVE Online is a community-driven spaceship MMORPG where players can play free and explore the space with countless options. The game also offers immense PvP and PvE battles and a thriving player economy in a continuously expanding sandbox.

The game also features many in-game professions and activities, from war, politics, piracy, trading, and exploration. Over 7,000 star systems are available to play, with over 300 ships to fly and over 700 ships destroyed hourly.

The game was first introduced in 2003, and has since gained recognition for its “massive scale, complexity, and the world record-breaking exploits”.

The collaboration with the decades-running British show Doctor Who will introduce a new Gallifrey-themed space that allows players to find artifacts from Doctor Who’s Great Time War. The artifacts will provide the players with clues to track down Daleks, a race of violent, merciless, and pitiless cyborg aliens, and fight them in an interstellar battle.

Players who survive the battle can earn unique rewards that can be taken back to New Eden, the star cluster in the game inhabited by the human race.

Moreover, players can reap login campaigns with skill points and Doctor Who-themed items throughout the duration of the event.

EVE Online is available for downloads free on its website and can be played on both Windows and Mac.

EVE Online’s ongoing, upcoming events

Apart from the giant collaboration coming up, EVE Online still has an ongoing event that will end on January 4 1100 UTC, the final Abyssal Proving Ground Event of 2021. It is an “all-out intense free-for-all combat aboard powerful and flexible tech I cruiser”.

Capsuleers can also look forward to reuniting with fellow capsuleers from around the world in person at EVE Fanfest 2022. The event will take place in Laugardalsholl Arena, Reykjavik, Iceland, on 6-7 May 2022.

Fans can enjoy presentations surrounding the game from the developers and experts, roundtables, charity dinners, a silent auction, and a player tournament.
