Four Indian teams secure last berths of 2021 World Esports Cup Grand Finals

Four top Indian teams, namely Arrow Esports, Chemin Esports, Total Gaming, and Orangutan Elite, will be representing the country as they bagged their berths in the Global Finals of the World Esports Cup.

The team went head-to-head on Friday (January 7, 2022). They will be facing top teams from Pakistan and Nepal in the grand finale from January 10 through 14, 2022.

Arrow Esports won the India Finals with the most points of 158. The teamwork of Afzal Khalid, Roshan Singh, Sanchayan Das, Abdullah Khalid, Divyanshu Singh, and Prableen Singh gained 93 rank points and 65 kill points.

Right behind Arrow Esports are Team Chemin Esports, who gained 91 rank points and 63 kill points, a total of 154 points; Total Gaming, who gained 64 rank points and 58 kill points, a total of 122 points; and Orangutan Elite with 67 rank points and 46 kill points, a total of 113 points.

At the same time, top teams from Pakistan and Nepal had secured their respective berths in the grand final as well. The teams representing Pakistan are Team Hotshot, The Guardians, Five mutants, and Legend Style ES. While the teams representing Nepal are 2b Gamer, Tonde Gamer, Dada Gang, and KM Brotherhood.

Aside from the top four, the tournament also saw impressive gameplays from Team SoloMid (TSM FTX), Blackflag Army, Aura Gaming, Stone Crushers, Desi gamers, TG Tycoon, Helping Gamers, and UG Empire. However, these teams failed to secure a place in the finale.

The competitions received huge feedback from fans, as the two-day live streams hit one million-plus view –6 lakh on the first day, and 4 lakh on the second. These numbers broke the record of previous streams. The championship is available to stream on various platforms, including India Today Gaming’s Youtube and Facebook channels.

“We’ve got some of the most recognized free fire teams from across India, Pakistan, and Nepal through the tournament and it’s heartening to see that the best and the most skilled ones will be taking on each other,” said the director of World ESports Cup, Mr. Vishwalok Nath.

“I congratulate each team who made it to the grand finale and I wish each of them the best of luck for the final showdown.”

In a statement released by the team, Nath also added that the tournament promised an “edge-of-the-seat thriller” to the audiences, as the top teams fight for the crown.

World Esports Cup (WEC ’21) is the first international three-nations Free Fire tournament between India, Pakistan, and Nepal.

The format of the competition follows a league format, spread across a little over three months. Team registrations were open around the end of October 2021, and the first qualifications kicked off on November 25 in India, November 28 in Pakistan, and December 1st in Nepal.

WEC 2021 is arranged by India Today Gaming, the gaming and esports division of India Today Group, from qualifiers, group stages, country finals, to the Grand Finals. As the audiences of the championship come from various nations, India Today Gaming has provided live streams with various language options, such as English, Hindi, Urdu, and Nepali.
