James Yang, director of PUBG Mobile Global Esports at Tencent Games, reportedly will reveal the details about the upcoming PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022 at 20.00 CST/14.00 CEST/13.00 BST/05.30 PM IST. The official announcement will also be uploaded on the PUBG MOBILE Esports YouTube channel.

Tencent previously officially confirmed the tournament on social media on May 15. As previously indicated, a formal invitation is required to join the event. However, no official information regarding the invitation procedure had been made.

According to previous media reports, the PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022, which will be hosted by Tencent in collaboration with Gamers8, is set to take place in August 2022. The competition will invite 16 to 20 best teams from Southeast and South Asia, Korea, Japan, Russia, Europe, Africa, the Americas, as well as the Middle East to compete for a $4,000,000 prize pool. This will be the first official LAN event on the PUBG Mobile global stage following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Three of the invited groups have been confirmed by the organizers: ReganS Gaming (qualification via Peace Elite League), Damwon Gaming (qualification via Pro Series Korea), as well as Donuts USG (qualification through Japan League).

The closest PUBG tournament on this scale was the PMWI 2021, which was held online due to the pandemic. Tencent teamed up with Gamers Without Borders to hold the event and offered a total of $3 million in prizes, with a large portion of the prize money going to various humanitarian relief organizations worldwide.

The tournament was split into two regions: PMWI East and PMWI West, with both tournaments running concurrently. The total prize pool for the PMWI East and West tournaments was $1.5 million for donations and $80,000 for teams, with the top 32 teams from around the world participating. In the East were teams from Southeast Asia, South Asia, Japan, Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau, while in the West were teams from North America, South America, Europe, the Middle East, as well as Africa.

At its peak, the event received over 1 million views and went on to become one of the most successful tournaments. Each eligible team received $5,000 in participation prize.

Team Valdus Esports of Thailand were bestowed PMWI: East Champions, while Alpha 7 Esports of Brazil were awarded the PMWI: West Champions title.

Natus Vincere CIS finished second in the Eastern Province at PMWI while D’Xavier and Zeus finished third and fourth, respectively, followed by fan-favorite Bigetron RA. The $442,500 first-place prize went to Valdus Esports.

Konina Power and Next Ruya Esports finished second and third in the PMWI: West event, respectively. RTG Esports came in fourth, with Ghost Gaming from North America coming in fifth. Alpha7 Esports was named MVP and received the prize of $352,500.

The tournament began on July 22, 2021, and concluded on July 25, 2021. Players were given permanent awards when the event reached certain milestones in terms of live viewers. It is highly likely that the upcoming PUBG Mobile World Invitational 2022 will do the same thing.
